Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 3, 2026

ColdGallery is an Android app that keeps your photos, videos and documents in an encrypted vault on your phone. This policy explains what the app handles, where it goes, and what we, the developer, can and cannot see. The short version: we collect nothing. There is no ColdGallery account and no ColdGallery server.

Who this policy is for

ColdGallery is intended for adults 18 and older. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.

What stays on your phone

Everything you put in ColdGallery stays on your phone, encrypted: your photos, videos, documents, albums, their dates and order, your settings, and any break-in photos. The keys that unlock them are protected by your PIN and by your phone's secure hardware. We cannot open your vault, and we have no copy of your PIN or your 12-word recovery phrase.

Android's own cloud backup and phone-to-phone transfer are turned off for ColdGallery, so your vault is never copied by Android in a form we don't control.

What we collect

Nothing. ColdGallery has:

We never see your files, your usage or your device details, and we never sell or share data, because we never receive any.

When the app uses the internet

ColdGallery connects to the internet in exactly two cases:

WhatWhenWhat is sent
Google Play BillingWhen you view or buy Lifetime, and when the app checks that a purchase is still validHandled by Google Play under Google's privacy policy. We receive no payment details.
Your own Google DriveOnly if you choose to connect it for backupEncrypted backup files, encrypted on your phone before upload. They go to a hidden app folder in your Drive that only ColdGallery can read, and ColdGallery can't see any of your other Drive files.

Nothing else leaves your phone. Google can't read your encrypted backups, and neither can we.

Backups on your phone

From your first item, ColdGallery keeps an encrypted backup in a plainly named folder in your phone's Documents folder. It stays there if you uninstall the app, so you can restore later with your recovery phrase. The files are encrypted and their names don't reveal what they are.

Camera

ColdGallery asks for the camera only if you turn on the break-in alert. It then takes a front-camera photo after several wrong PINs. That photo is encrypted and stored inside your vault. It is never sent anywhere.

Notifications

ColdGallery may show a notification while a backup or import is running, and one reminder if backups haven't worked for 7 days. Notifications are created on your phone and contain no photos.

Problem reports

If the app runs into an error, a short technical report (app version, Android version, phone model and error details, never your files) is saved on your phone. After you unlock, you can read the report in full and choose to email it to us from your own email app. Nothing is sent unless you send it yourself. If you email us, we use your message and email address only to reply, and delete them when the problem is resolved.

Deleting your data

We hold no data about you, so there is nothing for us to delete on our side.

This website

coldgallery.app uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking scripts. Like any website host, our host (Google Firebase Hosting) may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change ever affects what leaves your phone, the app will tell you before it happens.
